Donny Turner County Sheriff |
The Troup County Sheriff’s Office provides daily law enforcement throughout the county, specifically in the unincorporated areas but often within the city limits of LaGrange, Hogansville and West Point as well. Deputies’ training is top-notch and they work with state-of-the-art equipment, including new video cameras added to all patrol cars, making court cases easier to prosecute.
The Sheriff’s Office continuously seeks new ways to prevent crime and works with youth to relay the message that drugs and crime do not lead to happiness. The Sheriff’s Academy for Youth (SAY) is held each summer for children ages 9-14 and C.H.A.M.P.S. (Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety) teaches fifth graders about the danger of drugs, consequences of bullying and other life lessons. The popular Junior Deputy program teaches local third graders about law enforcement.
To further promote crime prevention, a Troup County Sheriff’s deputy routinely directs Neighborhood Watch programs in communities throughout the county. To ensure the safety of our elderly and disabled population, the Sheriff’s Office utilizes the “Are You Okay?” computer program, which routinely checks in on seniors, giving them and their families extra peace of mind.
