The Troup County Center for Strategic Planning is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation organized to carry out initiatives set forth in Troup County’s Strategic Plan. (Click on link below to view the Strategic Plan in its entirety.)

Opened in October 2009, the independent agency is located at the Troup County Government Center, second floor, and is responsible for maintaining the Troup County Works Web site, which matches local businesses and industries with potential employees. (See link below.) The unique site allows employers to register available jobs while Troup residents in need of work are welcome to post their applications on the site. The agency works with local resources to offer workforce readiness workshops that assist unemployed and underemployed residents in honing job interview, resume writing and other skills necessary to obtain meaningful employment.

With initial emphasis on local workforce development, the Center for Strategic Planning ultimately seeks to fulfill goals and implement strategies recommended in an extensive strategic plan conducted in collaboration with Georgia Tech. The strategies target various community concerns in areas of planning, education, employment, services for senior citizens, and much more—all in a concerted effort to maintain and improve the quality of life for all Troup County residents.

“What’s most exciting is that leadership at all levels comes together on our board to make sure we accomplish goals for the betterment of our entire community,” says Executive Director Kay Durand. “We aim to plan well to make this a viable community that makes a positive difference in people’s lives.”
