Emergency Communications -

Troup County 911

The mission of Troup County 911 Center is to provide a quick and efficient way of getting public safety assistance where help is needed. The Troup County 911 center answers all emergency calls for the unincorporated Troup County, and the cities of LaGrange and Hogansville. The Center dispatches for the Troup County Sheriff's Office, Troup County Fire Department, LaGrange Fire Department, LaGrange Police Department, Troup County EMS / AMR and also calls for fire or medical assistance in the City of Hogansville.  The Center does not dispatch for the Hogansville Police Department but will transfer any 911 call received for them to the Hogansville Police dispatcher. The Troup County 911 Center is an enhanced 911 system which allows the dispatcher to receive the name, phone number, address, of caller and lists the emergency agencies that are dispatched to the address.

A Tour of the 911 center can be arranged for your school or group by contacting 911 Director, Suzy Noles at 883-1700. If your group is interested in knowing more about 9111, please call to schedule a speaker for your group or class.

Statistics

Troup County 911 received 74,974 calls in 2003 of which 73,675 were dispatched

Power Outages

Call your power company and do not call 911. You should keep the number of your power company near your phone. Only call 911 if there is some type of danger i.e. fire, injury or live wires down. When there is a widespread power outage, 911 is bombarded with power outage calls and this make is very difficult to handle the emergency that are also coming in.

Severe Weather

Make sure you have a plan of action for your family or business before the storm strikes. You need to turn to a local radio station,  T.V. station or weather radio for  updates and emergency information.

To Report an Accident

You need to report to the 911 dispatcher:

  • the location of the accident

  • injuries and the extent of the injuries

  • other dangers i.e. vehicle fire, entrapments and / or road blockage

Your answers will determine which and how many agencies will respond.

Accidents Involving Deer:

Accidents in the unincorporated area with no injuries or property damage:

  • Obtain an SR 13 Form from the Georgia State Patrol Office
  • Contact your insurance company as soon as possible

Accidents with injuries and / or property damage:

  • In the unincorporated areas the Georgia Sate Patrol will respond to scene and will handle the accident report
  • Inside city limits regardless of injury or damage a police officer will respond and handle the accident report
