The daily executive and administrative functions of Troup County are coordinated at the Board of Commissioners/Administration Office in the Troup County Government Center.
Troup County works under a commission/manager form of government. The Troup County Board of Commissioners is comprised of the chairman, who is elected in a county-wide election, and four more commissioners, each elected from a specific district; all are elected to four-year terms.
The Board of Commissioners appoints a county manager who is in charge of daily executive and administrative functions of Troup County. The county manager oversees policy development, records and financial management, accounts payable, employee benefits and payroll, and public information.
Troup County has been the recipient of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for 21 consecutive years. The county is also an active member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG).
